Tuesday 13th June 2017, Emu Park Day 2.

Tuesday 13th June 2017, Emu Park.

We had a day With Peter, brother in-law, today and had a good time catching up. Kris was working all day so we met up and went out for a meal so we did end up spending time with her as well. Peter gave us a tour around Rocky and showed us some places we probably didn’t see on our previous visits. Tomorrow will be a relaxing day, washing, and perhaps a trip to Yeppoon proper.

Monday 12th June 2017, Emu Park on Arrival.

Monday 12th June 2017, Emu Park.

We have finally reached Yeppoon, well close anyway, we are parked at the southern end of the populated area including Yeppoon, several K’s away. We booked in for 8 days, being our limit due to bookings. We were going to look at nearly two weeks but no deal. We will look at stopping somewhere on the way home for a couple of extra days, like Redbrook because Linda would like to spend some time in Chinchilla, so we could do that while there. Have already contacted Peter and will be visiting tomorrow while we are in there doing grocery shopping. Linda found that the IGA here is a little expensive so seeing we are going into Rocky we will do the major shopping there.

Sunday 11th June 2017, Benaraby.

Sunday 11th June 2017, Benaraby.

Another move sees us at a small town of Benaraby, near Gladstone, just for an overnight stop before we move to Yeppoon tomorrow.

Lake Redbrook would be an ideal place for nothing but relaxation, and fishing with the family. It is in the centre of a large sugar cane growing area 15K from Childers, so one can’t just get up and walk to the shops as one does. They have a couple of walks around the lake which show off the abundant wild-life around the lake. There are birds galore, and they have a large pen containing deer, a couple of miniature ponies and along the walks to see these there is an orchard with various fruit trees. A sign hanging says “take what you can carry only”, so one can get some fruit when ripe. We could well return there for just a couple of days, which we possibly plan on our return trip, but you would literally have to be prepared to do nothing at all if you were to stay longer.

Benaraby seems to be reasonable for an overnight only, not much about. We are considering another town of Mirriam Vale on the way home.

Lake Redbrook, Friday 9th June 2017, Week two.

Friday 9th June 2017, Lake Redbrook.

If unfamiliar with Lake Redbrook, it is just north of Childers, QLD, on the highway to Bundaberg. We have pulled up the pins and set off in the caravan for a trip because it has not happened for a while. We are on our way to Yeppoon, near Rockhampton, for a week or two, and are going to enjoy it. We were on our way to Yeppoon two years ago. But when we arrived at Beachmere somebody decided that they wanted to settle, so we did. Now that Brother in-law, Peter, is now living in Rockhampton we decided that it must be time to finally make that trip, and visit Peter at the same time. We have been to Yeppoon before but have not stayed there, and it is one of those hundreds of places we have said we must return to one day.
