Wednesday 21st June 2017, Lake Redbrook.
Yes, we are back at Lake Redbrook, Linda wanted to go and spend some time at Childers, not far from here, so we are back here again. We had intended returning here but decided on three days this time as we are just going to relax.
Tuesday 20th June 2017, Miriam Vale.
We are on our way home again, and where did the week go. We did go touring around Byfield National park. There were several gravel roads leading into camp grounds, and that was about all. The camp grounds did have a bush walk each, so all was not lost, we did get a bit of exercise. There was also some 4 wheel driving along sand dunes and such but we decided not to go there. Linda’s back was playing up with all the bumping, and to let all my tyres down only to pump them up again was to be a bother, and I was not going to do any dune running or any running on the beach, salt water and all that, so we had to call it quits with what we did see. We did meet Peter and Kris again before we left. They came over to Emu Park to attend a country music and dance affair, so they called in for lunch beforehand, and them came back for dinner afterwards. It was nice catching up with them and meeting Kris at last, although they did drop in at home for a very short visit a couple of weeks ago.
We are now at a small town called Miriam Vale, just for the night at a park behind a roadhouse. We have heard good reports about this park, and the pizzas they make at the roadhouse, so it will be that for dinner tonight. About the only thing negative I have noticed with the park so far is the smell of dirty drains, but it is only overnight.
Friday 16th June 2017, Emu Park.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our few days here to the extent that we are thinking of making regular trips here in future. We had a trip to Yeppoon, actual Yeppoon, yesterday just for a look around the district as it has been so long since being here. As soon as we saw different locations the memories came back instantly. Linda was a bit thrilled when we went to Cooee Bay and stepped over the rocks to see the cliff faces, and saw several tortoises swimming around in the water. We have seen them before, but not in the actual wild. More touring has been put off today as Linda has an upset tummy, and we are not going anywhere like that.
Tuesday 13th June 2017, Emu Park.
We had a day With Peter, brother in-law, today and had a good time catching up. Kris was working all day so we met up and went out for a meal so we did end up spending time with her as well. Peter gave us a tour around Rocky and showed us some places we probably didn’t see on our previous visits. Tomorrow will be a relaxing day, washing, and perhaps a trip to Yeppoon proper.
Monday 12th June 2017, Emu Park.
We have finally reached Yeppoon, well close anyway, we are parked at the southern end of the populated area including Yeppoon, several K’s away. We booked in for 8 days, being our limit due to bookings. We were going to look at nearly two weeks but no deal. We will look at stopping somewhere on the way home for a couple of extra days, like Redbrook because Linda would like to spend some time in Chinchilla, so we could do that while there. Have already contacted Peter and will be visiting tomorrow while we are in there doing grocery shopping. Linda found that the IGA here is a little expensive so seeing we are going into Rocky we will do the major shopping there.
